Impressive
A common trap when hiring is settling for candidates that will “do the job”. We need someone know, and they meet all of our criteria, so we should hire them.
Falling for this trap leads to the quality of your team fallowing a typical regression to the mean.
To avoid this trap, you need to constantly raise the bar for who you have join your company.
A good litmus test for that I found is asking yourself: Am I impressed with this person?
Is this someone I’d want to learn from? Listen to being interviewed?
Obviously, they still need to be able to do the job. But they should also be impressive.
